SPX Cooling Technologies Partners With Trane

A Unique Alliance to Supply Full Cooling Solution

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - October 26, 2004 - SPX Corporation (NYSE:SPW) today announced that SPX Cooling Technologies, Inc., its U.S. Cooling Technologies and Services business, has signed an exclusive 3-year private-label supply agreement with Trane, a leading manufacturer of indoor comfort systems and comprehensive facility solutions.

Under the agreement, SPX Cooling Technologies and Services will private-label two of its Marley brand crossflow, factory-assembled cooling towers for Trane, with shipments beginning in the fourth quarter of this year. The cooling towers will be part of the Trane Series Standard and Series Quiet commercial air conditioning systems distributed in North America and South America.
