Worcester, UK – SPX Cooling Technologies, Inc., a full-line, full-service industry leader in the design and manufacture of cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchangers, will contribute its thought leadership to the IAHR Industrial Cooling Towers Conference in Lyon, France, from Oct. 16-20. Paul Hink, Vice President of Global Product Management and Vice President/General Manager of SPX Cooling’s Asia, Europe and Middle East businesses since 2014, will deliver two presentations examining various aspects of cooling tower design.
On Oct. 17, Hink will deliver his first presentation, titled “Water Conservation and Plume Abatement in Wet Cooling Towers,” discussing technological advances in plume abatement beyond traditional coil systems in cooling towers. These advances now provide plume abatement while reducing water usage in wet cooling systems, the largest water use in most plants. Using a thermoplastic heat transfer medium and a different operating mechanism, the innovative heat exchanger provides operating improvements and new opportunities in wet cooling.
The second presentation on Oct. 18, titled “High Wind Load Cooling Tower Design,” will cover the development of enhanced, high-wind-load designs for cooling tower fan cylinders and their anchorage. This development came in the wake of damage from Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), where wind speeds exceeded the existing maximums outlined in current cooling tower design codes.
Hink will also participate in a panel presentation at the conference on Oct. 19.
Hink’s 36-year background with SPX Cooling Technologies involves extensive experience with engineering, component design, thermal ratings, research and development, operations and product management teams. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Rockhurst University.
Hink and Jeroen Bouten, Director of Sales for SPX Cooling Technologies’ Asia, Europe and Middle East businesses, will be available throughout the conference to discuss products, projects and aftermarket support programs.
