Marley AV Revit File

The Revit product family for the Marley® AV cooling tower (“AV”) provides the basic geometry and typical pipe connections for each unit size of the product line.  The product family is compatible with Revit version 2012 and later, and may be downloaded at /revit.

Inlet Connections
All model sizes of the AV have a single inlet connection per cell, located on the top deck along the centerline of the air inlet face (face D) and set back from face D a specified distance.   The inlet connection for all AV models is a hole and bolt circle pattern sized to accept an 8” pipe flange.

Outlet Connections
Three types of outlet connections are included in this product family: side suction outlet (face D), bottom outlet, and end suction outlet (face A or C).  Only one of the outlets should be connected; the others should be ignored or deleted. Outlet size defaults to a commonly used pipe diameter for the unit size selected.  Actual outlet size may vary depending on the design flow rate and outlet location, and should be confirmed in the quotation.

Fan Type
AV models are available with a Standard Low Sound fan (A), a Quiet fan (L) or an Ultra Quiet fan (C).  Standard Low Sound and Quiet fan models have the same overall tower dimensions, and share model names within the Revit family.  Ultra Quiet Fan models require fan cylinder extensions and a louver platform, and are identified separately in the Revit family by a “C” suffix on applicable model names.

Optional Accessories
The following optional accessories are selectable parameters in the Structural category:

  • Louver Platform on Face D
  • Louver Platform is only available on the air inlet face.  Other optional accessories may alter or prevent the use of this option and/or increase the size of the unit.

Multiple Cells
Multiple instances of the AV product family may be inserted into the Revit project for installations having multiple cells.  Typically, multiple cells are oriented in the same direction and positioned such that the access doors on faces A and C of adjacent cells are facing each other.

Standard center-to-center cell spacings are listed by model size in the table below.

Clearances
The louver face platform option shows the required clearance for a safety cage on the platform ladder.  Clearance near access doors should be provided to allow for safe entry and egress.  Additionally, clearance must be provided at the air inlets and air discharge for adequate air flow. The clearance requirements vary by application, but the air inlet clearance can be approximated as the length of one cell, and the air discharge clearance should be at least three fan diameters. Also note that vertical enclosures around the cooling tower should not rise above the fan discharge, otherwise air recirculation may impact performance.
